buttercream.

last night i made my favorite vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting that i dyed a sunshiney orange (possibly my way of trying to counteract the gross, four-day rainfest we've had here this week). i used this recipe, which is pretty much foolproof and which never fails to elicit smiles from sweet-toothed friends. my love of cupcakes is well-documented on this blog, but these homemade versions -- pardon my pun -- really take the cake.
