what are you doing this weekend?

of course, the first -- and really, the only -- thing on my mind this morning is the terrible news from japan and the pacific. my aunt, an english professor, won a fullbright scholarship and spent most of 2009 and 2010 just outside tokyo. she and her family loved japan and its people; my mom went to visit last year and felt the same. it's just so heartbreaking. and yet, i can't stop looking at the photos and reading the news coverage.

i'm definitely sending out thoughts of hope.

but happily, other than this sad news, this week has been pretty great -- i actually hit all of my commitments! i trusted myself to make some big decisions, not only about my professional future, but about some personal things, as well, and i'm pretty proud of myself. as you know, i picked out a paint color for my bedroom (i'm definitely going with the icy pink) and i also chose a haircut, both of which are long-overdue items that just needed to be taken care of. i know they might sound silly, but it feels good to have a plan, even if it's just for how to do my hair. next week, i'll also get all of my taxes completed, which is a great thing, and continue my good exercising/eating habits. yay.

the weekend weather is supposed to be beautiful, so i'm going to spend tomorrow morning with my friends k. and t. on k.'s boat, but other than that, i don't have many other plans -- so it should be a good few days off.

what are your plans? tell me, and i'll see you back here on monday!

lovely photo by ashatay. i don't know if it's the color or the objects in the image itself, but there's something slightly haunting about it, no? or maybe it's just me and my somber headspace this morning.

  1. I think the entire world is glued to the news right now...it's tragic. Yay for you and a great week though! As always, jealous of the weather. It's supposed to be a balmy 50 degrees this weekend, and most of the snow is gone, so we'll be able to get outside and play. Spring is coming!

  2. Congrats on hitting all your commitments! I'm going to be cutting it close, but I think I can make it. :)

I've been swapping news links with my coworkers all morning. The devastation is just surreal. My thoughts are with all those suffering.

    Enjoy the weekend! xoxo
