pink palace.

ok.

so, remember those big decisions i was talking about on monday? i made them. and with them i made a bunch of other choices about my life -- number one being that it is finally, after two years in this apartment, time to get my bedroom in order. it's gross right now, you guys. there's a headboard that's not being utilized, two pieces from my old bed, no shades on the window and a tattered couch that really just needs to go. (i'll definitely take a "before" photo so you can see just how bad it is.)

and i'm positive a nice, fresh coat of paint will make a huge difference in there, so that's where i'm starting. for awhile, i was waffling between light gray and  icy pink, but pink has won, especially after i revisited this photo of david stark's bedroom (via his design*sponge sneak peek). my bedroom is pretty dark, and although i love gray in almost any form, i think gray paint will be just a touch too much. i'm going to go pick out some options this weekend, but the color in the photo above is pretty much exactly what i'm looking for.

what do you think? what home improvements have you made recently? i'd love to see!

xoxo

  1. Home improvement projects feel so good when they're completed. Your home - and especially your bedroom! - should be a sanctuary. I personally couldn't ever go for icy pink, but I do love the picture and expect that it's perfect for you. We have a very large project we're saving up for, and there'll be tons of posts on it once we get going. Probably not until next year though.

  3. I'm trying to clean out clutter right now. So hard when you have a child..."will he play with that again... he created that - how can I do away with it?... I remember how much we loved playing with that"...and so on. Being here at the computer is a bit of procrastination, so I have to get back to it. I love the pink. It will make a world of difference. We gave the whole interior a fresh coat this past year and it's fantastic. (sorry - removed the first one because of a silly typo...)

  4. I painted my bedroom a light chalky pink three years ago and it was a fantastic decision. Go for it!

  5. Awesome! I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

We're working on our main bathroom (which will be done within a few weeks) and then hopefully we'll start on the kitchen. I really need to get our bedroom in order though...it's not as nice as I would like it to be.

    Good luck!

  6. thanks, guys! i'm a little nervous about the pink (although i really think i'm going to copy this exact color), but the rest of my bedroom stuff is gray and white and not as feminine, so i'm thinking it'll be a nice balance.
