good morning, good morning-are you having green wednesdays? i hope so. i know i am.
my family is irish. very irish. my brother's name is patrick, for pete's sake, and my cousin gerry sings--and has sung--in irish bands for years. we're a fair-skinned, rosy-cheeked, raucous, fiercely loyal bunch, so it's no surprise that st. patrick's day is one of my favorite holidays. and even though i've never been to ireland--and was born and bred in county orange, florida (ha)--i still feel like it has a piece of my heart. (oh, and i'm going next year. not doing so is not an option.)
so, that being said, i leave you with one of my favorite things ever--this irish blessing. simple, beautiful, warm, true.
happy st. patrick's day.
may the road rise to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may god hold you in the palm of his hand.
{ i am a little--ok, a lot--in love with this photo of o'brien's tower by stary cat. click on the link for more information about the tower and the cliffs of moher. i want to go sit on that cliff and look out at the sea and reevaluate everything. and then go have a guinness, of course. }
