Even those of us who were "unaffected" in the obvious sense were impacted by the events of that day. It's one of those things that defines an era. Just as everyone remembers where they were when they found out Kennedy was shot, we will all always remember what we were doing the morning of 9/11/01. And wanting to be connected to it makes absolute sense to me.
